Legislative Services

Lawmakers, legislative staff and lobbyists alike often have the need for outside legal counsel to avoid conflicts of interest or accomplish specific goals at the statehouse. At the law firm of Carr Law Firm P.L.C., we provide legislative services and representation with individuals involved with the Iowa General Assembly in various roles.

We serve as on-call attorneys for the legislature, including representing legislators who are subpoenaed. We also offer legal guidance and representation to lobbyists and others who are trying to accomplish specific things through the legislative process.

We Understand How To Navigate The Legislative System

Legislators, staff and lobbyists can be subject to different laws and regulations than the general public, given the nature of their work. We understand how the Iowa Legislature operates and how to accomplish things within that structure — while addressing legal concerns and preventing possible legal issues in the future.

Two of our attorneys have a Legislative Practice Certificate from Drake University, representing in-depth study of the legislative process in Iowa from a legal perspective. We draw on a wide breath of legal knowledge in multiple areas of the law coupled with experience navigating the state legislature process to help our clients accomplish their goals.
